The Integrating Function of Virtue

The conference will address the concept of virtue as a factor integrating human activity, and its involvement in improving social life. Virtue is a fundamental element of the social capital and is a system of values that not only enables, but also improves cooperation between people. Mechanisms of the integrating function of virtue will be explored, which include the coherence of human activities and the involvement of such functions in family and community life.
About speaker
Andrzej Derdziuk, born in 1962 in Skierbieszów (Poland), member of the Warsaw Province of the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor. Ordained to the priesthood in 1987 by Pope John Paul II in Lublin. Habilitated professor of theological sciences. Head of the Moral Theology Section at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Author of twenty-eight books and over three hundred articles. Among them, Truth, Goodness, Conscience and Mature Fruit, as well as Brother Kalikst of Poczekajka and Man to the Max, in which he promotes contemporary examples of saints from the neighbourhood. He is the spiritual asistent of the Padre Pio Prayer Group, the Alumni Chaplaincy and the Community of the Holy Name of Jesus in Poczekajka in Lublin.
